11 million children didn’t eat breakfast this morning. We’re part of the No Kid Hungry team and unfortunately many kids walk into school with grumbling tummies. Today we’re taking a turn from Orlando’s culinary scene to bring awareness to those in need in our community.
A young boy recently came to school with his head hung low, dark circles under his eyes, completely lacking in energy and focus. Sadly, this is something his teacher was used to seeing, but not from this particular student. After class she asked him what was wrong.
His response? “I’m hungry.” A simple answer for a complex problem that many of our kids are facing. A problem that could be resolved if we connected more kids to school breakfast programs.
