In a world of on-demand delivery it’s only natural that your lunch would be next in the daily delivery lineup. Often when noon rolls around you have two options, enjoy an oh-so-unsatisfying granola bar or venture down to an average sandwich shop. But consider this third option, EnjoyFresh, which delivers local chef-made entrees to your doorstep.

EnjoyFresh was founded with the idea of connecting food lovers with passionate local chefs. Inspired by the creativity and diversity in today’s food movement, they wanted to give talented chefs the chance to push boundaries and tell their culinary story.

This Orlando based startup allows you to enjoy fresh, unique food prepared by great, local chefs.  Right now they’re focusing solely on lunch deliveries and office catering in the general Orlando area with hopes to expand soon. Most of their menu items are $9.95 with free delivery, making for an uber affordable and convenient lunch experience.

As 9-5ers typically stuck inside the office we decided to give EnjoyFresh a whirl! Ordering is simple, you scroll through their app or website to view offerings, select your delivery day and voilà lunch is served. Lunch orders placed by 10:30 that morning are delivered between 12 and 12:30pm that same day. Office catering for groups of 5 or more might need additional pre-order time.  We were super impressed by the number of offerings ranging from spicy Korean chicken, to a handful of vegetarian options and even catering items like chicken fajitas. Our Meatball Sub was fresh, hot and efficiently delivered right to our doorstep. The best part? No dishes, clean up or leaving the office required! EnjoyFresh delivers to the general Orlando area and hopes to grow in the coming months. With a rotating menu selection each weekday, you’ll never have to leave the office for lunch.

options when it comes to food delivery, restaurant experiences and even office or event catering.
They’ll ask for your participation in short surveys, you’ll send any suggestions and help spread the word to your Orlando friends, co-workers and family. You’ll also be among the first to receive special discounts and offers. Interested? Click here for all of the details and your shot at becoming an Insider.

Oh Southern food……how you’ve made quite a splash in the culinary scene. For those of us accustomed to grits, fried everything and BBQ it’s disheartening to see our beloved classics sometimes items altered to a state beyond recognition. You know what I’m talking about; it’s the truffle shrimp and grits or sriracha fried chicken at an uber trendy restaurant that makes true Southerns shake their heads and sigh.

Homecoming Chef Art Smith Disney Springs

Thankfully, there’s a new place in town serving up Southern food, pure and simple. Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming is exactly that – an homage to his roots as a sixth generation Floridian, his newest restaurant brings his favorite dishes home. The name Homecoming is a nod to Chef Art’s return to Walt Disney World after his first cast role in The Magic Kingdom College Program in 1981 – now known as the Walt Disney World College Program. Chef Art has spent many years traveling, making TV appearances, cooking award-winning meals for celebrities and opening restaurants like Table Fifty-Two in Chicago, Southern Art and Bourbon Bar in Atlanta and Art and Soul in Washington, D.C. But to him, Florida is home. And he has come back to share some of his favorite Florida farm-to-fork dishes with locals and tourists alike.

Homecoming Chef Art Smith Disney Springs

My family and I spent a few hours on my birthday here recently and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly service, perfectly prepared cocktails and, of course, their simple Southern dishes. The interiors are lovely, both warm and detailed all in one. As a fourth generation Floridian it’s nice to see a bit of the Sunshine State represented among a sea of tourists. Homecoming’s seasonal menu with local ingredients (would you expect anything different these days?) is well crafted and true to its roots. Here’s what we tasted and sipped during our time at Homecoming:

  • Jasper Board: An assortment of pimento cheese, smoked sausage, shaved ham, bread and butter pickles and candied pecans.

Homecoming Chef Art Smith Disney Springs

  • Church Lady Deviled Eggs: If I’m ever required to bring deviled eggs to a Sunday picnic, I’m totally calling Art. These whole style eggs live up to their name, church ladies know how to make a proper deviled egg.
  • Chopped Pork Barbecue Plate: Let’s all stand and applaud for Momma’s mac and cheese. No really. The cheesy, gooey goodness totally stole the show from the barbecue – which was also quite tasty I might add.

Homecoming Chef Art Smith Disney Springs

  • Fried Chicken Sandwich: A signature dish that’s buttermilk-brined for 24 hours then fried and served alongside potato chips. Thank you Homecoming for a good ol’ dish of fried chicken – nothing fancy, just done right.

Homecoming Chef Art Smith Disney Springs

  • Celebratory Birthday Drinks: Bonus points for having Honig Sauvignon Blanc by the glass on your menu! My family opted for the Cucumber Cooler (a must-try on a hot day) and the Muleshine (it’s strong, you’ve been warned). They boast an expansive drink list that’s sure to satisfy everyone’s palate.

So welcome home Chef Art, you picked a good neighborhood. See y’all at Homecoming.

We all scream…..for cooler weather! In the midst of a brutal summer, it’s critical to stay cool. So, if you’re looking for something chilled we’d recommend these delectable treats.

Sprinkles: Known for their cupcakes, but their ice cream is another gem among their culinary confections. All of their ice cream is made with organic dairy and they use ingredients like Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon vanilla, Callebaut chocolate and sprinkles from France.  Their Sprinkles Sundae is divine, it’s a single scoop of ice cream between cupcake top and bottom. Plus, buy any two ice cream sundaes through the end of the month and score two free cupcakes! And if you don’t feel like making the trek out to Disney Springs, Sprinkles delivers ice cream to your doorstep – just make sure you order their red velvet flavor. So bring it on Florida heat, Sprinkles is ready for you.

Peterbrooke: Stroll over to Park Avenue for some creamy gelato and inhale their Banana Caramel Praline flavor with sugar coated pralines. It’s rumored that Oprah has buckets of this confection shipped to her house, so you know it has to be good.

Peak Season Pops: My favorite pops in town with flavors ranging from Basil Lemonade to Citrus Cilantro. Founded in 2011, they aim to support local companies by sourcing ingredients, bags, sticks, printing and all other aspects of their business in Orlando. They’re a roaming food cart, but you can typically find them at the Winter Park Farmer’s Market on Saturdays and the Downtown Orlando Market come Sunday.

Each year, Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month benefits a local cause chosen the year prior. This year, The Russell Home for Atypical Children is the recipient, and will be given $1 from every Magical Dining meal. The Russell Home is the first non-profit institution in the country to provide a home atmosphere with a family structure for special needs children and ‘child-like’ adults. In continuous operation for over 60 years without any government support, the home also provides 24 hours of free respite care and free day care for the local families with special needs dependents.

Last year, Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining raised a record $160,735 for ELEVATE Orlando. The funds raised by Magical Dining enabled ELEVATE to expand its mentorship programs into Jones High School, equipping thousands of urban youth in Central Florida to graduate with a plan for their future.

The Capital Grille’s Generous Pour is back for the summer! The signature summer series will feature a collection of seven benchmark offerings from wineries who have forever changed the landscape of wine. Now through September 4 for $28 per person with dinner, guests are invited to explore and enjoy as many of these remarkable wines as they like.

Screen Shot 2016-07-18 at 9.53.42 AM

The Generous Pour Rebels, Rule Breakers & Game Changers collection features the direct descendants of some of winemaking’s boldest vintners. From California’s first single vineyard Chardonnay and the first winery to name a region, and an American winemaker in Northern Italy, these world-class wines were crafted by those who understood the value of taking a risk.

“This year, The Generous Pour collection pays tribute to the bold risks and strong decisions of the men and women who were not afraid to challenge the norm,” said George Miliotes, The Capital Grille’s Master Sommelier and one of only 230 in the world to have earned that prestigious title. “The rewards that come with their bold approach are an assortment of wines that have transformed the way wine is now viewed,” he added.

During The Generous Pour, servers will suggest pairings for each course, based on individual preferences, allowing guests to craft their own personalized wine dinner. The Generous Pour 2016 collection includes:

Stags’ Leap, The Leap Cabernet Sauvignon. The Stags Leap region with its unique soil and climate became known for producing some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa. This wine was so fine that for the first time ever in California, a winery inspired the name of a growing region. This Cabernet Sauvignon, normally only available in the estate’s tasting room, pairs beautifully with our dry aged steak.

Lyric by Etude Pinot Noir. Produced by winemakers who, in 1982, had the rebellious determination to grow one of the world’s most unforgiving grapes.  At the same time, they were one of the first wineries to adapt their winemaking technique and philosophy to suit the land. Don’t miss what some consider the finest and truest expression of Santa Barbara Pinot Noir.

Beaulieu Vineyard, Tapestry Cabernet Blend. Bordeaux trained winemaker André Tchelistcheff came into Napa with a bold new approach, using radical fermentation techniques and pioneering the use of French oak barrels which resulted in California’s first “cult” Cabernet. Tapestry carries on these techniques in this classic Bordeaux blend.

Screen Shot 2016-07-18 at 9.54.13 AM

Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz Blend. In 1951, the Penfolds Winery set out to create a world-class red to rival the best in Europe, forever changing the landscape of Australian wine. Enjoy Penfolds Bin 2, from the first winery to produce the Shiraz that made Australian Shiraz famous — and still remains the gold standard.

Chateau St. Jean, Robert Young Vineyard Chardonnay. Winemaker Richard Arrowood, who went on to become one of Sonoma’s most iconic vintners, did the unthinkable in 1975: produce a Chardonnay from a single vineyard. Enjoy this complex and classic descendant, a California Chardonnay from Margo Van Staaveren and the renowned Alexander Valley, throughout your meal.

Provenance Sauvignon Blanc. A gamble on growing white grapes in the traditionally red region of Rutherford, Calif., paid off big. The inaugural vintage minted Rutherford’s reputation for Sauvignon Blanc. Experience what is possibly the best expression of Sauvignon Blanc in the Napa Valley.

Screen Shot 2016-07-18 at 9.54.20 AM

Stellina di Notte Pinot Grigio. This light and refreshing Pinot Grigio was born out of American innovation paired with centuries old tradition. Created in the foothills of the Italian Alps – home to the most famous Pinot Grigio in the world – this bright, lively white is classic in style, but modern in taste.
